Linella Company was founded in October 2001 and that year was marked by the opening of the first grocery store, service-at-desk, with 70m² of commercial area placed in the district of Ciocana.

Throughout the following years the business grew up due to efficient management and good location of the grocery store, which made founders consider extension and thus start looking locations for new stores. They also studied a different organizational method of the trade process - self-service - to give it a practical effect in its new grocery store.

As a result, 2004 was one of the most remarkable years in Linella's history. In that year, 4 new units were lauched - 3 markets and one cafeteria. The units opened each with a timeframe of three months. The grocery stores opened on March 18th, June 18th, and September 18th. The cafeteria opened on December 25th. At the beginning of 2004, Linella had 20 employees. By the end of the same year, the number of employees amounted to about 100 persons.

In 2006 a new self-service grocery store opened in the district of Buiucani.

At this moment of writing, Linella represents a chain of modern grocery stores with 180 employees.
